Name: Indiana Memory
Indiana Memory is a collaborative effort to provide access to the wealth of primary sources in Indiana libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural institutions. It is a gateway to Indiana’s history and culture found in digitized books, manuscripts, photographs, newspapers, maps, and other media. As a portal to the collections, Indiana Memory assists individuals to locate materials relevant to their interests and to better appreciate the connections between those materials. – About Indiana Memory
Three Interesting Features
- Collections are searchable by location using the interactive map feature. I found that this suggests directions for exploration that might not have been part of the original plan. I certainly didn’t plan on encountering mis-labled photos from my middle school years. I spotted familiar faces! Mercifully, none belonged to me!
- Teacher Resources are outstanding.
Resources include best practice articles and professional development modules, online tools and lesson plans. We encourage educators to share any tools or lesson plans.
- The Hoosier State Chronicles features digitized Indiana newspapers. Users can create accounts and volunteer to correct text transcripts from home!
